(NEWTON) The 2018 Holly Jolly Jasper County Christmas event began this past weekend in Newton, a celebration of Burl Ives’ most beloved Christmas character “Sam the Snowman” from the famous movie “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” The Tree Lighting on the square in downtown Newton was this past Saturday night. All are invited to stop by and visit with Santa Claus and a host of Holly Jolly Characters this coming Saturday evening from 5:00 to 8:00. Also this coming weekend, the Annual Wine Tasting at the Ste. Marie American Legion is this Friday night from 7:00 to 10:00, Breakfast With Santa is Saturday morning from 7:30 to 10:00 at the St. Thomas Parish Center, then Story Time at the Newton Public Library Saturday morning at 10:30, and the Holly Jolly Craft Show at the KC Hall in Newton from 11:00 to 3:00 on Saturday.
